Online Class Time
- Read short announcements and assignments provided by teacher on Canvas
- Communicate with the teacher through messaging or comments on Canvas as well as email
- Participate in discussions with the teacher and fellow students using Canvas
*Class length may vary depending on the lesson content.
*Class days and times are subject to change.
Online Class Schedule
Fall Semester: September 8th – December 18th
Spring Semester: January 19 – May 7
*Final Exam scheduled the following week of each semester.
*All major holidays observed
*All classes are Central Standard Time. Daylight Savings Time is observed
Class Size
*Classes vary from 8-20 students per class.
Student Information
Prior to each class, the student should:
Read each assigned lesson in the syllabus and watch the corresponding EIW video lessons (if necessary)
Complete the assignment given in the previous class period
Tests
There are no weekly or monthly exams; however, teachers may choose to administer one final composition to serve as the final exam.
Grading
Although instructors will score all compositions and may suggest a final grade, the final grade is determined by each family using scores and any other variable they choose.
Extra Help
Students may contact the instructor during the week by email with any questions about past or current lessons or assignments.
Technology Requirements
Students will need an up-to-date computer or laptop that can access the internet.
Students will log in to Canvas to view lessons and participate class activity.
Essentials in Writing does not provide technical support.

Cancellation/Refund Policy
PayPal, or credit card accepted as payment.
Refunds for online classes are granted based on the following criteria:
Refunds for enrollment fees are granted if requests are received within 14 days of the first class of the season. After this timeframe, refunds are not available for cancellation.

August 19 – May 12
Class Size:
Up to 50 students per class
Student Information:
Prior to each class, the student should:
- Attend one hour-long virtual classroom lesson online once per week.
- Watch Essentials in Writing Level 9 instructional videos (provided) and complete each daily mini-assignment.
- Be prepared and plan accordingly to complete daily mini-assignments.
Tests: A mid-term and final exam
Grading: Conducted by teacher, Mr. Stephens, and teaching assistant, Jolie Washam
Extra Help: The instructor will be available by email for questions.

- Students will need an email address to send completed assignments through email.
- Essentials in Writing is not responsible for technology support.
- If students fail to complete daily assignments, parents will be notified to withdraw their student from the class.
Cancellation/Refund Policy
PayPal, or credit card accepted.
Refunds for the Virtual Class are granted based on the following criteria:
Refunds for the Registration Fee and for the First Month’s Tuition are granted if requests are received within 14 days of the first class of the season. The Registration Fee can only be refunded during this initial 14-day window, beginning on the class start date. After this 14-day period, refunds for the current month’s tuition are granted only if the request is received within 10 days of each subsequent billing cycle. Any previous month’s tuition cannot be refunded.
